January 2026: From Hyderabad to Tokyo – A Month of Breakthroughs
They say January is for planning. At OSCOWL ai, we decided it was for executing.
As we wrap up the first month of 2026, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible momentum we have built. From the research labs at IIT Hyderabad to the global stage in Tokyo, this month has been a defining start for our team. We aren't just writing code; we are bridging the gap between deep research and real-world product deployment.
Here is a look at what went down in January.
1. Going Global: Research Accepted at ICAIIC 2026, Tokyo ๐ฏ๐ต
One of our biggest goals is to make AI communication feel human. I am incredibly proud to announce that our research paper, "Dual-Lane Voice-Preserving Real-Time Speech Translation: A System Architecture for Cross-Lingual Speaker Identity Retention," has been accepted at the 8th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication (ICAIIC 2026) in Tokyo!
We are solving a critical problem in translation: preserving the speaker's identity. With our new architecture, you can speak a language you don't know, but the voice on the other end will still sound like you.
2. Bio-Inspired Engineering: Learning from Nature ๐ฆ
In the world of UAVs and drones, stability is everything. We looked at nature for inspiration specifically, the world's most agile (and perhaps annoying) aviator: the mosquito.
Our paper, "Bio-Inspired Flight Control Systems: A Comprehensive Analysis of AI Based UAV Controllers with Aedes Mosquito-Inspired Development Framework," has been accepted for ICIPTM 2026. By mimicking biological flight dynamics, we are teaching drones to hover, dart, and stabilize with a level of agility that traditional controllers just can't match.
3. Shipping Product: Wiola 5B and Numerapi ๐
Research is vital, but shipping is what matters. This month, we rolled out major updates to our core stack:
Wiola 5B: Our new 5-billion parameter model is now live, offering significantly better accuracy and reasoning capabilities.
Numerapi: We optimized our API for production-grade cloud environments and improved compatibility for Windows 11. It is faster, more robust, and ready for scale.
4. Community & Impact at IIT Hyderabad ๐ฎ๐ณ
We wrapped up the month by representing OSCOWL ai at the AI Impact Summit India 2026, hosted at IIT Hyderabad. It was an honor to showcase our work on Streamlingo and connect with fellow innovators and industry leaders who are shaping the future of Deep Tech in India.
What’s Next?
January was just the warm-up. As we head into February, our focus remains sharp: pushing the boundaries of Generative AI and Autonomous Systems.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. We are just getting started.
